1. ISA and India sign the Host Country Agreement

ISA and India sign the Host Country AgreementThe International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), signed the Host Country Agreement.

The Agreement will give ISA a juridical personality and gives it the power to contract, to acquire and dispose off movable and immovable properties, to institute and defend legal proceedings.

Under this agreement, ISA shall enjoy such privileges, applicable tax concessions and immunities as are necessary for ISA’s Headquarter to independently discharge its function and programmes.

2. India, China agree to a roadmap for addressing the trade imbalance

India, China agree to a roadmap for addressing trade imbalanceThe eleventh session of the China-India joint-group on Economic Relations, Trade, Science & Technology was held in New Delhi.

The session was co-chaired by the Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu and the Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Zhong Shan.

The two Ministers agreed to continue to take forward the initiatives identified in the Five Year Development Programme for Economic and Trade Cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and India signed in September 2014.

The two sides reaffirmed their aim to promote bilateral trade in the field of pharmaceuticals including resolution of issues of Indian pharma products exports to Chinese markets.

AAI signs MoU with Assam govt to develop villages in KamrupThe Airport Authority of India (AAI) signed a MoU with Assam government under its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) initiative for the sustainable development of human settlements at villages in Kamrup district.

The AAI would provide financial assistance under its CSR initiative of Rs 4.58 crore for the Kamrup district as per the estimates prepared by the UNDP to improve the resilience of communities around Guwahati Airport.

The AAI through its CSR policy supports such initiatives for promoting infrastructure for the convenience of the population with a view to improving the resilience of communities.

4. Asia’s largest Tulip garden in Srinagar open to visitors

Asia's largest Tulip garden in Srinagar open to visitorsThe beginning of the tourism season in the Kashmir Valley was marked with the opening of Asia’s largest Tulip garden here on the banks of the iconic Dal lake.

Jammu and Kashmir Tourism minister Tasaduq Mufti and Floriculture minister Javed Mustafa Mir were among the first visitors for this season.

The floriculture department has planted 12.25 lakh Tulip bulbs of 40 varieties and colours in the 10-hectares garden.

5. Department of Posts launches Cool EMS Service between India and Japan

Department of Posts launches Cool EMS Service between India and JapanMinistry of Communications has launched the Cool EMS Service between India and Japan.

Cool EMS service is one-way service from Japan to India which allows customers in India to import Japanese food items for personal use which is allowed under Indian regulations.

Initially, Cool EMS Service will be available in Delhi only. Food items will be carried by Japan Post in special cool boxes containing refrigerant to preserve the quality of the food items and addressee will collect them from Foreign Post office, Kotla Road, New Delhi in-person or through a messenger in the prescribed time frame.

All other features like track and trace, etc of Express Mail Service (EMS) will be available for Cool EMS service as well.

6. Indu Bhushan appointed as CEO of ‘Ayushman Bharat’ mission

Indu Bhushan appointed as CEO of 'Ayushman Bharat' missionIndu Bhushan was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Centre’s ambitious Ayushman Bharat National Health Protection Mission (ABNHPM).

Bhushan, the Director General of East Asia Department, Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila, Philippines, has been appointed to the post for a period of two years.

The Union cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had approved the launch of the Ayushman Bharat mission.

The scheme has the benefits cover of Rs 5 lakh per family per year.

Jual Oram launches Tribes India e-commerce portal and M-commerce app ‘Tribes India’Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram launched ‘e-Tribes:Tribes India’, an initiative for digital commerce at Tribes India outlet in New Delhi.

It included the launch of e-commerce portal of TRIFED, www.tribesindia.com and M-commerce, android app ‘Tribes India’.

The minister also launched the Tribes India banner on Snapdeal, Amazon, Paytm and GeM for the marketing of tribal products through these e-commerce portals.

With this, more than 55,000 tribal artisans connected to TRIFED will get access to local as well as international markets.

8. Exim Bank extends $500 million loan facility to the 15-nation group in Africa

Exim Bank extends $500 million loan facility to 15-nation group in AfricaThe Export-Import Bank, Exim Bank has announced that it will provide a USD 500 million credit facility to Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to fund various development projects in western-south Africa.

According to the Bank, with the signing of line of credit (LoC) agreement, the Bank till date has extended four LoCs to the Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) of West African States, taking the total value of LOCs to USD 1,000 million.

The LoC of USD 500 million is an umbrella limit for financing developmental projects in 15-member countries of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
